On April 12th, 1961 Yuri Gagarin became the first man in the history of the world to make a flight into the space. Launch vehicle “Vostok” with the rocket “Vostok” was launched from the Baikonur Space Center (Kazakhstan). After a 108 minutes flight Gagarin has successfully landed in the Saratov region, near the town of Engels. Beginning from April 12th, 1962 the day of Gagarin’s flight into the space was declared a special date “Day of Cosmonautics”. In honor of this event, Roskosmos (Russian Space Agency) has officially declared 2016 to be the “Year of Yuri Gagarin”. In the period from 1st to 30th of April 2016 “Almaty Amateur Radio League” will have an Almaty and Almaty region radio amateurs activity month joining the other radio amateurs of Kazakhstan and Russia in celebration of the event.
Program details: Activity starts, 1st of April 2016. End of activity, 30th of April 2016. All bands. All modes. All digital modes are classified as one, DIGIMODE. Special commemorative diploma is established for QSOs during the activity period. To get the diploma one has to score 55 points.
